Description
The NEBOSH National Certificate in Protecting Enhanced Duty Premises and Events from Terrorism is a specialist qualification designed for health and safety professionals and other workers who are involved in managing premises and events that fall within the enhanced duty requirements of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, commonly known as Martyn’s Law. NEBOSH states that enhanced duty applies to publicly accessible premises or qualifying events where it is reasonable to expect 800 or more individuals may be present at the same time.
This course gives candidates the knowledge to understand the nature of terrorism, interpret threat information, assess site vulnerabilities, implement public protection procedures and measures, document compliance, and support business continuity and recovery. The syllabus also includes the role of leadership in developing a strong security culture, making it particularly relevant for organisations that need a practical, structured approach to preparedness under the new legislation.
The qualification is not intended for security professionals or SHE practitioners with extensive operational counter-terrorism experience. Instead, it is aimed at those who need a clear and practical understanding of how occupational safety and health principles can support terrorism preparedness, proportionate controls, and coordinated duty holder action.
At Acadame, we can support employers and individuals looking to build confidence around Martyn’s Law compliance through planned courses, workplace delivery, and wider training discussions. We work with clients across the UK and can discuss options for delivery in Stoke, Derby, Manchester and Liverpool, onsite nationwide, or through our managed service partner network for more local access.
Assessment
Candidates complete one unit assessment: a 60-minute online multiple-format assessment. NEBOSH explains that this includes a blend of question styles such as multiple choice, multiple response, ranking, categorising and fill-in-the-blank questions. The paper contains 30 questions, including 8 mini-scenario questions, and is a closed-book assessment. A pass is achieved with 60% or higher.
